USPS Post Office Holiday Hours ~ Open or Closed Today?

The majority of USPS Post Offices generally stay open on the following holidays, though reduced hours may apply:

– Valentine’s Day
– Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday
– St. Patrick’s Day
– Good Friday
– Easter Monday
– Cinco de Mayo
– Halloween
– Black Friday
– Cyber Monday
– Christmas Eve
– New Year’s Eve

The majority of USPS Post Offices are closed for business on the following holidays:

– New Year’s Day
– Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day)
– Presidents Day
– Easter Sunday
– Mother’s Day
– Memorial Day
– Father’s Day
– Independence Day (4th of July)
– Labor Day
– Columbus Day
– Veterans Day
– Thanksgiving Day
– Christmas Day

If a holiday falls on a Saturday, USPS will observe it on the preceding Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, USPS will observe it on the following Monday. Most Post Offices are open on Saturday (except holidays), but with shortened hours and early closing time. Some are closed on Saturday. All Post Offices are closed on Sunday.

For 2019, Tax Day falls on Monday, April 15. Post Offices MAY be open late, but don’t count on it. Extended hours on Tax Day are much less prevalent now than in past years since most taxpayers e-File online. Be sure and get your taxes done before the April 15th due date!
